Breastfeeding innovative product: building a product with unique 3D algorithms to simplify infant feeding.

Parenting is no small feat, and every mom and dad wish they could make it a bit easier. With a sprinkle of modern technology and a helping hand from the IvorySoft development team, we created Emulait — an app that embodies empathy and thoughtful design.

    ABOUT THE PROJECT

Emulait is all about making baby feeding easier and more natural with a unique baby bottle that mimics breastfeeding. Their goal is to help families of all kinds — whether you’re a mom, dad, single parent, or caregiver — transition smoothly between breast and bottle. The platform supports its users in giving babies the best feeding experience possible.

    SCOPE OF WORK

Our main task was to finish the app project and release it. Although it already had a lot of features, the goal was to revamp everything with a new design, structure, and functionality. To speed up the process and transition to the new, improved version, we aimed to reuse as much existing code as possible.

    Efficient, scalable, and user-friendly backend

The backend development focused on creating a robust, high-performance system that could handle numerous simultaneous requests with ease. We designed it to be versatile, supporting communication between the mobile app, web app, Shopify, and database.

Behind the scenes of the Emulait mobile and web app

When we kicked off the Emulait project, we had a clear goal in mind: to make everything smooth and simple for both parents and administrators, all while using some of the best tech available.

    Shopping with ease

The client had an old website and app where shopping was done through Shopify. One of our biggest challenges was to create a new version of the store without changing any data structure in Shopify. We worked hard to integrate everything smoothly, ensuring the new shopping experience was smooth and still compatible with Shopify. Now, users can enjoy a hassle-free shopping experience that works perfectly with the existing setup.

Custom fit with a scan (iOS only)

Our team integrated and refined a breast scanner feature on iOS. This allows users to scan their breasts and order a custom nipple for the baby bottle, matching their shape and color. The scanner ensures privacy by not storing any intimate images. The initial feature was developed by a previous team, and our main task was to support and enhance it. To do this, we explored ARKit and MLModel. ARKit helped us identify the target object and compare it using a machine-learning model. The scanning process takes place at the object’s location, and the obtained scan is sent to the server for further data processing. This ensures that the custom nipple is accurately crafted to meet the user’s unique needs.

    Smartlook for insights

To help our client better understand user interactions, we integrated Smartlook, which monitors activity and generates heatmaps. This technology provides granular insights into how people navigate and engage with the app. We can see features visitors use most frequently, how they make purchases, and even identify any areas of friction or confusion. As a result, it became easier to keep the app up to date with users’ needs and preferences.

    Family and baby activity tracking

Our developers added the ability to create a family profile, add little ones, and keep tabs on their daily activities like sleep, feeding, and diaper changes. We also rolled out features for moms to log pumping sessions and use voice commands to get things done in the app. For this, we utilized Google Speech-to-Text.

New features that are coming soon

We’re currently working on a cool new feature that lets moms connect and control their bottle warmer through the app using Bluetooth and WiFi. This will ensure the baby’s milk is always at the perfect temperature and make feeding even easier. We’re also enhancing the activity tracking system, including options to add caregivers with limited access to manage your child’s data. These updates aim to provide more convenience and control for busy parents.

Effortless content management with custom CMS

To provide the client with quick and easy control over text content, we developed a user-friendly CMS using Forest Admin Panel. This system made it super simple to manage the site and add different language versions. Plus, it offered secure user authentication and authorization, along with a ready-to-use, intuitive interface.
RESULTOur work on the Emulait project has greatly enhanced the user experience. We developed both mobile and web apps to improve how users interact with the product, integrating all necessary features to provide even more convenience for parents. Now, the IvorySoft team is continuously working on refining these features, and soon parents will be able to enjoy them even more. Our efforts were supported by a robust backend that ensured communication between all components, making the entire system work smoothly and efficiently.
